Update Your Electronics

For you couch potatoes out there, nothing should be more important than your electronics.  However, some of you love your electronics so much, you haven't been able to part with your old stuff.  Let's face it, it might be time to clean house if your electronics are really outdated.

Do you find yourself watching TV without a remote?  Is it because your TV never had one?  Are you actually getting up to walk across the room to change channels?  Dude, you need a new TV.

Are you still taping your music on tapes?  Are your favorite movies on VHS tape, or even worse, Beta tape?  It might be time to get a DVD player or even just start using On Demand.

Do you have a corded phone?  How about a typewriter instead of a computer?  What about a Walkman?

These are all signs that your electronics are just too outdated!  It is time to step it up and take that trip to Best Buy.  Sure, this stuff might be valuable one day, but it won't be if you use it until it breaks.  Do yourself a favor and upgrade your electronics.

5 Musicians You Should Be Listening To Right Now!

I am always looking for new great singers and bands.  Every now and then, I actually find them!  The music industry seems to be actually improving right now.  So here are some new acts you should check out:
Dragonette

Apparently, I have been really missing out.  Luckily, I heard this Dragonette song playing in a Nordstrom's Rack dressing room (no, I'm not kidding) and I've been hooked since then.

Fitz and the Tantrums

If you like old timey rock music or Motown, you might just love Fitz and the Tantrums.  They kick it seriously old school.  Their entire CD is made to look like a record album and their music is fabulous.

Yeasayer

Pronounced like "Yay sayer," I first heard this band on Conan.  My favorite song is the one they actually performed that night on Conan's show called "The Devil and the Deed."

The Civil Wars

The Civil Wars are now a Grammy winning act, so I can't believe I am alone in believing they are a super awesome duo.  Check out my favorite song by them called "Poison and Wine."

Foster the People

Last, but never least, is my new favorite band called Foster the People.  They are a strange and quirky group of guys.  Their songs are meaningful, yet sound light-hearted.  If you don't listen to the lyrics, you can just dance without a care.

Semi-Harry Potter Weekend on the Family Channel

So... it is not an official Harry Potter Weekend on the Family Channel, but the Family Channel is showing enough Harry Potter movies to make it an unofficial Harry Potter Weekend.  I am currently watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on the Family Channel while typing this.

Check out your TV Guide listing to determine air times for all the Harry Potter movies this weekend.  After all, many people are lucky and having a 3 day weekend for President's Day.  If you are lucky enough to be one of those people, have a great weekend!  Happy Harry Potter viewing!

For those of you like me, sorry.  I understand.  I have to go to work tomorrow, too.  Boo for companies that try to take away my awesome TV viewing and make me work.

R.I.P. Whitney Houston

Even though I know Whitney Houston was not living the most healthy lifestyle ever, I am still shocked to say Whitney Houston was found dead today at 48.  Right now, news stories are still coming in, so I don't believe a cause of death has been confirmed.  Of course I am sure many people will claim it was drugs that took her life since she is known for smoking crack.

Right now, I am not jumping to any conclusions.  There are too many rumors floating around about Whitney Houston's death and who knows the truth?  What I do know is Whitney will be missed.  She was a very a talented singer and it is a shame she passed away at such a young age.

Before judging her or spreading rumors about her, everyone should take the time to remember her back in the '80s and enjoy her music.  Whitney Houston should be remembered at her best.

Football Season is Almost Over!

I don't want to sound like every other girly girl out there.  I pride myself in being the type that is not into chick flicks and being able to handle all the same action movies guys love.  However, I have to say when it comes to football, I hate it.  I am the girliest of all girls.  Now that football season is almost over, I am overjoyed.

I don't get it.  Guys who never make it off the couch while eating Cheetos and drinking beer yell at the TV screen at teams they will never be athletically fit enough to play on.  Who cares?  Why are you yelling at some dude about a touchdown?  Why are you screaming at the TV about a football game?  You are sitting on the couch.  That guy is out on a field somewhere doing something with his life.  What is wrong with you?

I also do not understand the loyalty of teams.  Oh, I live in Baltimore, so I am supposed to like the Ravens.  So if I lived elsewhere, would it be unacceptable to like the Ravens?  If I move, am I required to change teams?  If so, doesn't that make me a fickle fan?  What is that?  That doesn't make sense to me either.

I am so relieved today is the Superbowl and it will officially be over soon.  No more football talk for a while.  No more listening to people talk irrationally about their teams.  No wonder I like spring and summer so much - no football!
