Get Ready for Some Classic Real World Episodes this Weekend!

I am not sure if someone at MTV could hear my hopes and my dreams, but for some reason, I am being delighted with the return of some old school Real World episodes this weekend.  Yes, for all you fans out there that loved the original Real World episodes (the best episodes, I daresay!), you can enjoy them this weekend.  For those of you that never got to see the original seasons, sit back and have fun!

Starting Friday night at 8 PM, the original New York episodes from about 20 years ago are going to be running throughout the night.  Later on in the weekend, viewers can watch San Francisco and Las Vegas episodes.  To be honest, I am a little disappointed that I don't see season 2, Los Angeles, on the list, but I will deal with it.  I am so excited to my New York peeps from the past!  And maybe... just maybe, I would not mind seeing Puck from the San Francisco episodes.

If you are interested in seeing one of the first reality shows, you should check out the Real World on MTV this weekend.  If you hate reality TV and blame the Real World for it, you might want to stay away from MTV this weekend.  For me, I will be eagerly awaiting 8 o'clock tomorrow night!

Catfish: The TV Show

For those of you that have not had the delight of watching Catfish: The TV Show yet, you are seriously missing out.  It is the show everyone is talking about.  The basis of the show is very simple: the show unites people that have met online yet never met in person.  Let the drama begin!

Originally, Catfish was an indie movie about a couple that met online.  Nev, our host of the TV show, thought he was in love with a girl he was talking to online.  Turns out, a married women in her 40s was just pretending to be the girl he thought he loved.  So basically, the show is the same concept.

Some of the online couples on this show have been talking for years and years, yet they've never met in person once.  One couple had been talking to each other for 10 years online, yet never skyped once or met in person.  This show definitely shows you all the dangers of "dating" a person you've actually never met.

In two cases so far, the "man" of two participants dreams turned out to be women.  I've seen 4 episodes so far, and still, no happy endings seem to be in sight.  It seems as if these are all sad stories full of lies and betrayal.  At the same time though, how could one not be suspicious of someone online that is never willing to meet in person or skype?

In many of these cases, it seems as if the person is lonely and wants to believe the person on the other end of the computer is perfect for them.  I am convinced somewhere deep down, they must know this is a fantasy.  Otherwise, why would they not put more working into finding out the truth?  Within a short period of time, Nev and his buddy, Max, are able to learn plenty about these people using basic search methods online.  Why can't anyone else think to do this?
I suppose none of that really matters.  All that matters is the sheer awesomeness of Catfish.  If you've ever dated anyone online or you just like really shocking, crazy endings, Catfish is a show you should be watching on MTV.

Is Jersey Shore Already Over?

As a fan of Jersey Shore, I have to admit I was pretty sad to hear this is the last season.  I have grown to love the Jersey Shore crew just as if I know them myself.  However, now that I've seen the first episode, I know it is time for the show to end.

No one can stay young forever, and the gang is getting older and moving on.  After all, you can't (or at least shouldn't) have a house full of adults partying every summer without real responsibilities.  They are all changing and moving on.

Snooki was pregnant while filming this season of Jersey Shore.  You simply can't have Jersey Shore without Snooki, but pregnant, responsible Snooki isn't going to pull in ratings.  Sure, we all love her and probably respect her more now, and in the end, this makes her a better person.  But Jersey Shore just isn't the same.

The Situation has been to rehab recently and he is now trying to make amends with his roommates.  He is no longer drinking.  Although, once again, this makes him a better person, this is also a strange turn of events for a show known for partying.

Finally, we have Vinny now deciding he is going to be celibate.  I am kind of hoping that is a joke, but something tells me it isn't.  It seems as if half the house is trying to go down a healthier path.

While I applaud these efforts, it makes me realize Jersey Shore and its glory days have truly ended.  I want nothing for the best for these people I almost feel I've gotten to know on a personal level, but I know this really should be the last season of Jersey Shore.

Rob Dyrdek Returns to MTV

If you were a fan of Rob & Big or Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, you are in luck!  Fantasy Factory returns on Monday nights at 10.  Better yet, if you were a fan of Bobby Light, Rob's alter ego, Bobby Light will be making his return.

Apparently, Bobby Light has gained some weight since his last appearance.  Don't worry though... Big Black will also join in the fun, so it will be a great time.  This season of the Fantasy Factory looks better than ever before.

Jerzathon - A Jersey Shore Weekend

Since Jersey Shore will be wrapping up its 5th season this coming Thursday, MTV has decided to give the fans a going away present.  This weekend is the Jerzathon.  For those of you that don't speak MTV language, this means there is a Jersey Shore marathon all weekend.

You get to see all the craziness that is Jersey Shore all day long.  You can see Angelina walk out - twice, watch JWoww hit the Situation, see Deena begin her Jersey Shore journey, and watch various stalkers go after the guys.  It is also a good time to learn about DTF, GTL, and any other Jersey Shore terms you don't fully understand yet.

So if you are sitting in front of your TV right now, it is a great time to watch Jersey Shore.  Come on, you know you want to anyway, so go for it.

Jersey Shore Returns to MTV on January 5th!

For all you Jersey Shore fans, you are about to get exactly what you want for Christmas.  The Jersey Shore is returning to MTV on January 5, 2012.  The gang will return to Seaside Heights, which is exactly what fans want to see.  Looks like there is going to be more ridiculous adventures, some fights with the Situation, and the Meatballs will be back to their usual clumsiness.  All seems right in the world.

So, for you Jersey Shore fans, here is a sneak peak showing you what you can look forward to this season:

Beavis and Butthead Return to MTV

Finally, at long last, all is right in the world.  Beavis and Butthead return to MTV on October 27, 2011!  Our cartoon heroes are finally back.  There has been way too many terrible music videos, ridiculous commercials, and stupid shows, and no Beavis and Butthead to make fun of them.

The guys have not aged at all since they originally appeared on MTV.  Nor does the show look any better or any classier.  No, even if they have updated the cartoon by digitally creating Beavis and Butthead, it sure hasn't helped them look any more sophisticated.  As far as I am concerned, that is alright with me.

First, MTV2 brought back 120 Minutes, then VH1 brought back Pop Up Video, but now, MTV has saved the best for last by bringing back Beavis and Butthead.  There are rumors they may opt to bring back Daria while they are at it.  Thank you, MTV.  Thank you.

It's Jersday!

Yes, it is Thursday evening and time for another exciting night of The Jersey Shore.  It is amazing how entertaining the show can still be.  Yes, Ron and Sam continue to fight.  Yes, the guys still pick up grenades all the time.  Yes, Deena continues to fall down all the time.  But still, I watch it.  The Jersey Shore always promises to be entertaining, but how real is this reality show?

Tonight's episode is the same episode that aired on Sunday night before the VMA's.  If you saw the two episodes back to back, Crime and Punishment and And the Wall Won, did you notice how the fight scenes were edited in completely different ways depending on the episodes?  If you haven't seen them yet, make sure to catch them tonight.

In the Crime and Punishment episode, it makes it appear that Ronnie hit the Situation so hard, he is the reason the Situation goes to the hospital.  It ends on a cliffhanger so you have to watch the next episode.  When you see the actual And the Wall Won episode, the footage is edited in a totally different way.  It is obvious that the Situation's injury is self-inflicted.  This is a good example of how reality shows edit all footage to convey whatever message they want to send.  They could have never shown us the truth and allowed us to believe Ronnie was guilty.

The next time you watch any reality show, just remember they are creating a story for us.  You never know the whole story unless you are actually there.  We are only shown what producers want us to see.  It is all a clever story laid out before us for our entertainment.  If you ever wonder how real The Jersey Shore really is, just watch those two episodes back-to-back.  You will see how easy it is to manipulate an audience.

The Jersey Shore is Back Tonight!

FINALLY!  The Jersey Shore returns to MTV tonight.  The Jersey Shore is entering its 4th season and they will be in Italy this time.  I can't imagine how this group is going to function in Italy, but I suppose it should be fun to watch.  Apparently we will get to see fights (of course), a car accident, and hot Italians (actually from Italy, not the usual Jersey Shore crew).

I guess there is really not too much to say about it.  Jersey Shore is back and life is complete again.  So tune in at 10 and enjoy.  Just sayin!

My Little Review of the New 120 Minutes

As I mentioned in a previous post, I was super excited to hear 120 Minutes was coming back on the air this weekend.  The new 120 Minutes premiered last night.  I taped it and just viewed the show.  It was an exciting time for me.

I have to say, Matt Pinfield looks like he has never aged.  He is the same guy I remember from the original 120 Minutes.  It was nice to hear some new bands, like the Joy Formidable and Cults.  I also enjoyed watching some old clips from artists like Radiohead.  A number of bands appeared on the show for interviews, as well.

If I had to be picky about anything at all, I would say I was a little sad the show featured interviews from Kings of Leon and PJ Harvey, but did not show any of their videos.  I was really excited because I thought perhaps PJ Harvey had a new video and I would get to see it, but no such luck.  I guess I can just hope for next week.

Overall, the new 120 Minutes is just as awesome as the original, and I can't wait to see the next episode.  Just the fact that this show exists again gives me hope for the music industry.  I believe there was a time when there wasn't enough decent music out there, but now there are enough new, talented artists to fill up at least 2 hours of air time each week.

120 Minutes Returns to MTV!

I don't know about you, but I was a HUGE fan of 120 minutes in the 1990s.  Every Sunday at midnight, I could look forward to watching the best in alternative videos.  120 Minutes aired videos no one else was showing.  If you wanted to see a band before anyone else even knew about them, you watched 120 Minutes.  In high school, I was the first person to know about Nirvana.  Life was good.

For many years, there has been an empty space in my life.  My once "cool" existence ended around the same time the show ended.  It has been outright difficult to listen to good music and know who is the next up-and-coming artist without 120 Minutes.

Now for the good news - 120 Minutes is coming back!  If you have MTV2 (and most of you now do because of the digital cable upgrade) you can watch 120 Minutes again.  And yes, Matt Pinfield is hosting it again.  I know, I know, I feel like I am going back in time.  The show will start airing new episodes again on this weekend.  If you are on the east coast, it is on at 1 am (Saturday night into Sunday morning) on July 31, 2011.  Oh, happy days!

Even if you can't stay up for it, be like me and tape it.  Honestly, I am not as young and spunky as I once was when it originally aired.  If you have a DVR or you are still kicking it 90's style with your VCR, make sure to tape it.  Thank you, MTV, for finally giving your fans what they want!

Lady Gaga on MTV's Disaster Date

Even though I may not always admit it, yes, I do watch MTV's Disaster Date.  I love watching people torture their friends and set them up on this show.  What you may not know is Lady Gaga was on Disaster Date.  Yes, Lady Gaga in her pre-Gaga days with dark hair.  She was still known as Stefani at that time.  Don't believe it?  Check out the picture below!

I guess you could consider me one of Lady Gaga's "Little Monsters" and I saw a show about this on MTV.  Yes, the Disaster Date rumor is true.  Also, she had a guest spot on The Hills on MTV, too.  Lauren and Whitney were at one of her earliest concerts helping her design a look.  Wow, I watch too much MTV!

If you want to read more about Lady Gaga and read my rant about why she is not a man, you can check out my hub here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Lady-Gaga-is-not-a-man.  I will spare you the rant if you are reading this blog.

Reality TV and How to be a Star

I have to admit it, as much as I will make fun of reality TV, I sit there and watch it just like anyone else.  I watch reality shows all the time.  Usually the worst shows are the most entertaining to watch.

Since I watch these shows all the time, I thought it would be fun to create a "How to" guide on Hubpages about becoming a reality show star.  Now, obviously I am not a reality show star or I would not have time to constantly write blog posts and write articles.  I just thought it would be funny.

Dysfunctional Teen Mom 2

I am noticing this season's Teen Mom is full of moms that are way more dysfunctional than the original Teen Mom girls.  I actually feel sorry for these mothers.  Jenelle does not even have custody of her kid.  Kailyn does not have a place to live half the time.  For that matter, neither does Jenelle.  One of Leah's daughters is seriously ill.  I can't even watch this show anymore!  It is too depressing.

If MTV's goal was to mortify teenagers so they will never become pregnant, good job MTV!  Those girls are so miserable I am sure no one watching the show wants to get pregnant now, even adults.  In a world that is so over-populated, MTV is helping solve that problem.  Thanks, MTV!

First Blog Ever!

I have never really blogged before, so if you are reading this, thanks.  Your bravery is much appreciated.  Apparently, I know a lot about crappy television.  I am not talking about the TV people watch when they want to increase their knowledge or expand their mind.  I am talking about the TV that no one admits to watching.  That is my area of expertise.

Don't get me wrong.  I am not the type that follows every little piece of celebrity gossip.  I love Twilight, but I totally do not care what Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart did last weekend.  I do, however, care if the cast of Jersey Shore is going to Italy.

Also, I care about food.  As a couch potato, I have to eat something while I am watching horrible television programs.  I obsess over food.  I love food.  I especially love junk food, but I am trying to cut back.  I will tell you something - a salad sure doesn't taste as great as chips when I am watching episodes of Teen Mom.
