Jersey Shore Returns to MTV on January 5th!

For all you Jersey Shore fans, you are about to get exactly what you want for Christmas.  The Jersey Shore is returning to MTV on January 5, 2012.  The gang will return to Seaside Heights, which is exactly what fans want to see.  Looks like there is going to be more ridiculous adventures, some fights with the Situation, and the Meatballs will be back to their usual clumsiness.  All seems right in the world.

So, for you Jersey Shore fans, here is a sneak peak showing you what you can look forward to this season:

Best Moments from A Christmas Story

Last night, I took some time to describe one of my favorite Christmas movies, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, so I thought I would take some time to talk about another favorite.  My other favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story.

Once again, this is another movie most people are familiar with.  However, if you don't know about A Christmas Story, it is basically a movie about a child and his quest to get a BB gun for Christmas.  He faces many obstacles, but the movie is actually hilarious.  It features a tacky leg lamp, a turkey dinner stolen by dogs, and an angry mall Santa.  The movie certainly has something for everyone.

Due to the movie's popularity, TNT shows a full 24 hours of A Christmas Story every year for Christmas.  So basically, you have no excuse for not seeing this movie.  You can even buy a ton of A Christmas Story merchandise if you like.  You can wrap your gifts in A Christmas Story wrapping paper!

So check out some of the best A Christmas Story clips right now:

Favorite Moments from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Since the holidays are fast approaching, I thought I would kindly add a couple of Christmas movie blog posts.  Holiday movies are really not my thing, however, I do make a couple of exceptions.  The first exception I would like to discuss is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

Most people have seen it, but just in case you've been living under a rock for the past decade or two, National Lampoon's Vacation focuses on the Griswold family and their Christmas vacation.  It includes all of the annoying parts of Christmas, including lights that don't work, attempting to find a tree, and annoying relatives.  Furthermore, it includes Cousin Eddie and you've just got to have him in a National Lampoon's Vacation movie, or there is no point.  You ever see National Lampoon's European Vacation?  I rest my point.

Basically, you can enjoy fun stuff like seeing squirrels attack people, things blow up, the SWAT team break in stuff, and Chevy Chase have a meltdown.  Of course, there is also a scene with a hot chick paying attention to Chevy Chase, which I am pretty sure he must negotiate to have in every movie.  So, since I am sure you are excited to watch some clips, let's check out some awesome moments from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation:

Jenna Marbles / Jenna Mourey on YouTube!

Normally, I do not take the time to promote anyone else's blog or vlogs in my own writing.  To be perfectly honest, I am just not that generous.  However, I happened to stumble upon perhaps the greatest vlogger of all time - Jenna Marbles a.k.a. Jenna Mourey.

I was on an online dating site (yeah, that is another story, don't ask) and this dude said he was all about this girl.  He said he is looking for his own Jenna Marbles.  Naturally, I was curious and I needed to check her out.  Much to my surprise, I decided Jenna is actually super cool.  If I were a dude, I would totally want to hook up with her, too.  So to that dude on Plenty of Fish, good luck with that.  To anyone else reading this, Jenna is hilarious.

So, all my couch potato peeps that might be reading this, get off the couch and check out some of her stuff.  Jenna's Facebook page is: Jenna Mourey's Facebook Fan Page.  Some of her videos on YouTube are:

Mob Wives Return to VH1

Just in case you were wondering what to do on New Year's Day, I can tell you to look no further!  Mob Wives will be returning to VH1 on Jan. 1, 2012.  What a fabulous way to ring in the New Year!  Who doesn't want to watch some mob ladies beat the hell out of each other?  Nothing says a good time more than that.

Perhaps others will be watching some sentimental New Year's garbage.  Maybe some folks will be spending time with family or having a big dinner.  I will not be doing any of that.  I will instead be watching Mob Wives on VH1.  I also suspect a Mob Wives marathon might just come on that day to celebrate the big event.  It just seems like the right thing for VH1 to do.

So thanks, VH1.  I wasn't that excited about the New Year, but now I am!  Finally, a quality program I can watch again on VH1.

The Soup is Moving!

It is no secret that one of my favorite shows is The Soup on E! Channel.  The Soup has been airing on Friday nights for what seems like forever now.  For some reason, E! has opted to switch nights.

Starting November 30th, The Soup moves to Wednesday nights at 10 pm.  I am trying to decide how I feel about that move.  In some ways, it is better that way since there are a number of other cool things a person can be doing on a Friday night.  However, I like to watch the SyFy channel on Wednesday nights (I am watching it now!) so that will take away from my usual schedule.  Of course, I will probably pick The Soup anyway... I just love Joel McHale.

So, for any of you fans out there, remember that next week you need to start watching The Soup at 10 pm on Wednesday.

Charlie the Unicorn

It has been a long time since anyone has talked about Charlie the Unicorn and, well, I love Charlie, so I am going to talk about him.  I just love that completely ridiculous cartoon.  I still find my singing a happy song and announcing, "I'm on a bridge... a magical bridge of hope and wonder," whenever I cross a bridge.  Sometimes it just cheers me up.

Lately, my job has been quite stressful.  If your job is stressful, too, maybe you need to take another look at Charlie the Unicorn.  If you've never had the pleasure of viewing this cartoon, well, you are in for a real treat.  I present to you... Charlie the Unicorn!

If you like Charlie the Unicorn, you will probably also like Detective Mittens: The Crime Solving Cat.  If you want to watch a sick, crazy cat, check it out!

Happy Pre-Halloween!

Yes, it is not Halloween yet, but it is the weekend.  Since nothing is better than the weekend, I would say it is time to let the festivities begin!  The best way to celebrate Halloween on a lazy Sunday is by eating lots of junk food and watching scary movies.  Some scary movies I would highly recommend are:

  • Halloween
  • Friday the 13th
  • Nightmare on Elm Street
  • The Shining
  • Scream
  • The Ring
  • The Others
  • The Sixth Sense
  • The People Under the Stairs
  • The Exorcist
  • Insidious
  • Stay Alive
  • The Omen
  • Saw
  • Poltergeist
  • House on Haunted Hill
  • 13 Ghosts
  • Ghost Ship
  • House of 1,000 Corpses
  • House of Wax

So go ahead and watch a bunch of violent or creepy movies all day long.  There is no reason why you can't celebrate Halloween a day early.  Mondays always stink anyway!

Countdown to Beavis and Butt-Head

The wait is almost over!  The new Beavis and Butt-Head episodes are going to start in about 2 days!  I am really excited.  It seems as if Beavis and Butt-Head is replacing the Jersey Shore on the Thursday night lineup on MTV.  I just cannot wait to see it again!

OK, so this was a totally meaningless blog post.  I just had to share.

VH1's Greatest Songs of the '00s

VH1 has been showing the greatest songs of the first 10 years of this millenium for about a week.  Naturally, this is the perfect time to watch a bunch of music videos on VH1.  I have really enjoyed watching the countdown.  If you'd like to read the entire countdown, you can easily visit the page at: VH1's Greatest Songs of the '00s.

I agree on many of the choices for the countdown.  I am glad Hey Ya! and Poker Face were in the top 3 where they belonged.  However, there is a great injustice in this countdown!  One of the greatest songs ever has been ignored.  I am talking about My Humps by the Black Eyed Peas.

How is it possible to have a countdown without My Humps?  Everyone was singing that song and discussing it.  Where is it?  Instead, I Gotta Feeling is included on the countdown.  Really?  Sure, everyone likes that song, but everyone REALLY likes My Humps.  It was so popular, Alanis Morissette created her own version of it.  Any song that is worthy of a parody is worthy of being on this countdown.

VH1 - How could you neglect this song?

American Horror Story - My Review

I actually debated calling this, "How I wasted an hour of my life."  Actually, the show may have been a little longer than an hour, but I started fading out somewhere towards the end.  I was probably too busy muttering to myself, "What is this?  Why does this program exist?"

Don't get me wrong - I don't shock easily and I want to be scared.  So my problem was not with the show's shocking scenes or language, which was certainly more than I would have ever anticipated seeing on basic cable.  I also don't mind if the show was rather confusing.  I was a big fan of Twin Peaks, so being confused is fine.  (Which, by the way, this show wants to be Twin Peaks, but it will never live up to that standard.)

My major issue with the show was that it seemed forced.  I felt as if the writers sat down and said, "How can we make this show as confusing and disturbing as humanly possible and get away with it?"  I mean, seriously, how many times can you cuss in one show?  Did I really need to see bare ass twice in one show?  Furthermore, how about some real character development?  By the end of the show, I wanted to see everyone get killed.

I will say I did appreciate some of the unusual camera angles. I also applauded the show for featuring a mentally challenged cast member, yet I was annoyed at the way she was treated in the show.  I did think the scary creatures and ghouls were pretty decent.  There was an OK amount of blood and creepiness.  However, I was not scared.

For a show called American Horror Story, I expect to be scared.  I don't want to be annoyed, disturbed, or frustrated, but that was the case for the whole show.  Give me more monsters, more ghosts, and more weirdness.  Give me a lot less random nudity, unnecessary profanity, and obnoxious characters.

For now, I am going back to watching SyFy channel on Wednesday nights.

Beavis and Butthead Return to MTV

Finally, at long last, all is right in the world.  Beavis and Butthead return to MTV on October 27, 2011!  Our cartoon heroes are finally back.  There has been way too many terrible music videos, ridiculous commercials, and stupid shows, and no Beavis and Butthead to make fun of them.

The guys have not aged at all since they originally appeared on MTV.  Nor does the show look any better or any classier.  No, even if they have updated the cartoon by digitally creating Beavis and Butthead, it sure hasn't helped them look any more sophisticated.  As far as I am concerned, that is alright with me.

First, MTV2 brought back 120 Minutes, then VH1 brought back Pop Up Video, but now, MTV has saved the best for last by bringing back Beavis and Butthead.  There are rumors they may opt to bring back Daria while they are at it.  Thank you, MTV.  Thank you.

Pretend You're a Celebrity This Halloween!

You know you've always wanted to be a celebrity, so get off the couch and dress like a Hollywood star this Halloween!  Can't decide who you'd like be?  No problem.  There are plenty to choose from and plenty of recommendations for costumes at The Best Celebrity Halloween Costumes.

Perhaps you've always wanted to be Marilyn Monroe or maybe Elvis Presley. This Halloween is the perfect time to do it!  Live out your fantasy by being a celebrity this Halloween!

Even if you can't buy a costume online, there is no need why you can't make one up.  Maybe you already look like a celebrity, but you just need to change the wardrobe a little.  Perhaps you can be James Dean or Burt Reynolds.  Maybe you've already got the moustache... if not, there is still time to grow one.  So roll out the red carpet and dress like you're ready for Hollywood the Halloween.

The X Factor vs. American Idol

There has been much talk about The X Factor the last few days.  Many people say The X Factor is just like American Idol.  Although it has some obvious similarities, it is not just like American Idol.  I would like to break down some of the differences between the two shows for anyone that might be curious.

  • The X Factor is missing two likeable personalities from American Idol: Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest.  I never imagined I would miss the two of them, but I actually do.
  • Simon Cowell actually seems a bit nicer on The X Factor.  I am not sure if he is trying to turn over a new leaf, or he is just enjoying being on a different show.
  • The auditions for The X Factor are in front of a huge live audience.  This gives you an opportunity to see if someone will freeze on stage as opposed to just performing in front of a small group of judges like American Idol.
  • The X Factor performers are allowed music in the background for their performance.  In my opinion, this helps many of them.
  • All the judges are drinking Pepsi for The X Factor.  For American Idol, everyone always drank Coke.  Interesting all of the judges would drink the same soda, huh?  Oh, that is right.  TV is just all about the endorsements anyway.
  • The prize for The X Factor is enormous: 5 million dollars.  It makes that once exciting 1 million dollar prize on American Idol seem small.
  • Anyone 12 years old or older can audition for The X Factor.  There is no such thing as being too old to audition for the show, which is really nice.  American Idol now accepts those from the ages of 15 to 28.  Let's face it - some people who are way older than 28 have talent, so now they can audition for The X Factor.

Making Your Own Insidious Halloween Costume

If you are looking for the perfect creepy movie themed Halloween costume, you need to check out Creating Your Own "Insidious" Halloween Costume.  With so many ghoulish characters to pick from, your main problem will be narrowing down which scary Insidious character you'd like to be this Halloween.  You can choose from characters like the Red Demon / Fire Demon, the Creepy Old Lady, or the Creepy Doll Girl Ghosts.  Don't forget there are plenty of other fun characters if don't want to be scary, such as the Ghost Hunter Nerds or even Psychic Elise.  If you have children, they may want to pretend they are Dalton or the little Demon Kid.

With so many fun Halloween Costume options, you may even want to have an Insidious Halloween Party.  You could even play Tiptoe Through the Tulips by Tiny Tim all night.  A good time will be had by all!

Some of the Best Scary Music Videos for Halloween

Halloween is right around the corner and most people enjoy celebrating it, even if only by watching some scary movies or listening to scary music.  Instead of just doing that this year, why not step it up by watching some scary music videos?  Awesome scary music videos bring both music and scary movies together.

In case you are interested in checking out some scary music videos, you should click on: The Best Halloween Music Videos.  Not only does it include a list with a description of each video, a YouTube video is included for each song.  You won't want to miss some classics like Thriller or Ghostbusters.  Also, you might see some videos you've never seen before like Love Kills or Are You Ready for Freddy?  You certainly don't want to miss out on that!

Paranormal Witness on Syfy Channel

For all of you paranormal show fans, you need to check out the new Syfy series Paranormal Witness.  Paranormal Witness premiered last night just in time for the Halloween season.  The series features reenactments of alleged actual paranormal activity.  Although I personally prefer reality shows that feature investigations, this show is certainly entertaining.

Last night, during the premiere episode, Paranormal Witness had two stories.  The first was about a family in Baltimore haunted by a ghost calling itself Emily.  The second story was about a family driving at night that sees a mysterious girl on the side of the road.

I actually preferred the second story since I am a sucker for the old "ghost on the side of the road" tale.  This one happened in Florida and it was fun to watch.  Do I believe everything I saw on the show?  No, probably not.  When people are upset, they tend to let their imagination get the best of them.  Do I believe there was some truth to the stories?  Sure, it could happen.  Some of the show was a bit melodramatic, but it was still a creepy show and worth watching.  So check out the repeat tonight at 8 pm if you get a chance.

It's Jersday!

Yes, it is Thursday evening and time for another exciting night of The Jersey Shore.  It is amazing how entertaining the show can still be.  Yes, Ron and Sam continue to fight.  Yes, the guys still pick up grenades all the time.  Yes, Deena continues to fall down all the time.  But still, I watch it.  The Jersey Shore always promises to be entertaining, but how real is this reality show?

Tonight's episode is the same episode that aired on Sunday night before the VMA's.  If you saw the two episodes back to back, Crime and Punishment and And the Wall Won, did you notice how the fight scenes were edited in completely different ways depending on the episodes?  If you haven't seen them yet, make sure to catch them tonight.

In the Crime and Punishment episode, it makes it appear that Ronnie hit the Situation so hard, he is the reason the Situation goes to the hospital.  It ends on a cliffhanger so you have to watch the next episode.  When you see the actual And the Wall Won episode, the footage is edited in a totally different way.  It is obvious that the Situation's injury is self-inflicted.  This is a good example of how reality shows edit all footage to convey whatever message they want to send.  They could have never shown us the truth and allowed us to believe Ronnie was guilty.

The next time you watch any reality show, just remember they are creating a story for us.  You never know the whole story unless you are actually there.  We are only shown what producers want us to see.  It is all a clever story laid out before us for our entertainment.  If you ever wonder how real The Jersey Shore really is, just watch those two episodes back-to-back.  You will see how easy it is to manipulate an audience.

Too Much Towing?

I know what you probably lie awake asking yourself at night: How many reality TV shows can actually be about tow trucks and tow truck adventures?  Apparently, you can have at least 4 reality shows that completely revolve around the concept of repossessing or towing vehicles.  Amazing, isn't it?  How?  Why?  Can it really be that interesting?  Furthermore, one channel, TruTV, is the source for all these shows.  Is there really that much of an audience for this?  Obviously they must be getting ratings or these shows could not exist.

The 4 reality TV shows on the air about towing companies are now:

  • Operation Repo
  • Lizard Lick Towing
  • South Beach Tow
  • Bear Swamp Recovery
Each show claims to be totally unique.  For instance, it appears each person starring in Bear Swamp Recovery is overweight.  Stop laughing... really, this is how the commercial makes it seem.  I am not sure how America can possibly be ready for 4 tow truck shows, but TruTV thinks we are.  So if you are really into seeing people have their cars repossessed, this is a great time for television programming for you.

Living the Couch Potato Lifestyle with Hurricane Irene

Many of you reading this blog live on the east coast of the U.S.  So of course, many of us are suffering through the hurricane.  I wish all of you the best of luck and please be safe during this difficult time.  Make sure to have enough food and make sure to have... gasp... books to read when the power goes out!

It is likely the electricity will go out and now is the time to start reading again.  Perhaps you haven't read a book in years, but there are many good books out there.  Maybe you can crack open the Harry Potter series or try to read Twilight if you haven't done so already.  You can also check out some new books at the library and have some fun with that.  Imagine how smart you will sound when your co-workers or friends as what you did during the hurricane and you tell them you read a book.  Everyone will be impressed.

Of course, there is always the possibility of buying a battery operated DVD player or watching DVDs on the laptop.  Just remember, that can't last you forever.  Batteries, no matter how much they are charged, eventually run out.  There are some seriously good books out there and you should give some a try.  The power might be out for days.  I am serious.  Try a book.

Sweet and Salty Treats

When lounging on the couch watching some TV, what could be better than some tasty food?  Finally, the time has come to make some treats that are both sweet and salty.  You will no longer have to worry about combining the two flavors on their own.

Believe it or not, sometimes I actually make food.  I know... this is a crazy thought.  Sometimes you just have to make a dessert to take somewhere or you need your own treat.  The best recipes are the easiest recipes.  You can easily turn some Hershey Hugs or Hershey Kisses, M&M's, and pretzels into a tasty treat...

The best part of this recipe is it looks like you worked really hard in the kitchen baking them.  In truth, the most time consuming part of the whole process is unwrapping all the Hershey Hugs wrappers.  If you are ready to give them a try, you can click here: to see the entire recipe.  Enjoy!

Not So Gaga Over Gaga Anymore

What is this world coming to now?  I keep looking at my stats for my Lady Gaga articles and blog posts, and all of them are dropping.  It appears the interest in Lady Gaga is fading away.  It seems that people are not so gaga over Gaga anymore.  This makes me quite sad since she is a great performer.  So why is this happening?

Are we finally tired of the Lady Gaga shenanigans?  Is she just not that contraversial or interesting anymore?  Was she too contraversial and no one can take it anymore?  Perhaps it was the new CD; was it not what we expected from Lady Gaga?

I suspect all of these things have been leading to a small downfall in her popularity.  Obviously, she is still out there and performing.  She is still entertaining.  She is still very talented.  But Lady Gaga is someone we've all gotten used to seeing.  The crazy rumors are no longer shocking.  Her look is no longer unique since many people are imitating her now.

I am personally hoping that Lady Gaga is taking a step back because she wants to surprise us.  She has planned this all along.  She is waiting in the shadows planning her next move or crazy video.  I really hope we have not heard the last from Lady Gaga!

Zombies vs. Aliens

Trends in our society come and go.  Remember a time when you heard about aliens all the time?  People were always saying they were being abducted.  There were UFO sightings all over the place.  You turned on the TV - aliens.  You went to pick out a new book - aliens.  What happened to the aliens?  They aren't visiting our planet anymore?

Now zombies are all the rage.  You can barely surf the internet without finding zombie articles.  Now, when you turn on the TV - zombies!  Now, when you go to look for books - zombies!  Zombies have taken over.  Did they attack the aliens and kill them all?  What is going on?

Personally, I believe whatever supernatural fears we have as a society reflects our true fears.  It is a sign of the times.  No longer are we concerned with things beyond our control (like aliens).  We are scared of what is going on right in our backyard (like zombies).

To some degree, we help control the economy and when it is going down the tubes, it is our problem.  Zombies happen to occur right here on this planet.  Usually zombie movies suggest zombies are walking amongst us because we failed in some way, such as a nuclear malfunction or a lab created disease.  The fear is that it is all our fault and we are paying the price.  The same goes for this economy.  Zombies represent our own shortcomings.

In the past, we were all scared of aliens.  Numerous people reported seeing them.  Even more people saw UFOs.  We were not as concerned about the economy.  Instead, we were concerned about what we could not see.  Aliens were a mystery.  Now with all the issues we are having, no one has time for the little green friends anymore.

So I suppose for now, we must say farewell to the aliens.  They pop up here and there, but their popularity has decreased.  The next time you begin to hear about alien abductions again, either one of two things has happened: A) the economy has gotten better, or B) the little guys have finally found us!  Let us hope that option A happens for us soon.

Facebook Fun!

For those of you that occasionally get off the couch to check out Facebook, or perhaps just shuffle the laptop over to the couch with you, you may want to check out some fun articles about Facebook.

You may want to check out WWW Smackdown: The Facebook Fight.  Just about everyone has participated in some type of Facebook drama in the past.  Even if you don't participate, you've seen the ridiculous fights people get in on Facebook.  The arguing can go back and forth until you can't believe you are even friends with these people.

Also, there are some folks that just don't know how to write an appropriate status update.  They will tell too much online.  Quite frankly, if you are pregnant or a relative died, you might want to pick up the phone and let someone know before announcing it on Facebook.  No one likes inappropriate status updates.  You can also check out the Many Types of Facebook Status Updates and see what type of status update you usually post.

Never forget, an awesome profile pic can make or break your page on Facebook.  To get some ideas or see which category your pic falls under, you can visit: The Many Types of Facebook Profile Pics.  After reading all about that, you can have fun for hours snapping random photos.  Good luck and happy reading!

The Jersey Shore is Back Tonight!

FINALLY!  The Jersey Shore returns to MTV tonight.  The Jersey Shore is entering its 4th season and they will be in Italy this time.  I can't imagine how this group is going to function in Italy, but I suppose it should be fun to watch.  Apparently we will get to see fights (of course), a car accident, and hot Italians (actually from Italy, not the usual Jersey Shore crew).

I guess there is really not too much to say about it.  Jersey Shore is back and life is complete again.  So tune in at 10 and enjoy.  Just sayin!

My Little Review of the New 120 Minutes

As I mentioned in a previous post, I was super excited to hear 120 Minutes was coming back on the air this weekend.  The new 120 Minutes premiered last night.  I taped it and just viewed the show.  It was an exciting time for me.

I have to say, Matt Pinfield looks like he has never aged.  He is the same guy I remember from the original 120 Minutes.  It was nice to hear some new bands, like the Joy Formidable and Cults.  I also enjoyed watching some old clips from artists like Radiohead.  A number of bands appeared on the show for interviews, as well.

If I had to be picky about anything at all, I would say I was a little sad the show featured interviews from Kings of Leon and PJ Harvey, but did not show any of their videos.  I was really excited because I thought perhaps PJ Harvey had a new video and I would get to see it, but no such luck.  I guess I can just hope for next week.

Overall, the new 120 Minutes is just as awesome as the original, and I can't wait to see the next episode.  Just the fact that this show exists again gives me hope for the music industry.  I believe there was a time when there wasn't enough decent music out there, but now there are enough new, talented artists to fill up at least 2 hours of air time each week.

120 Minutes Returns to MTV!

I don't know about you, but I was a HUGE fan of 120 minutes in the 1990s.  Every Sunday at midnight, I could look forward to watching the best in alternative videos.  120 Minutes aired videos no one else was showing.  If you wanted to see a band before anyone else even knew about them, you watched 120 Minutes.  In high school, I was the first person to know about Nirvana.  Life was good.

For many years, there has been an empty space in my life.  My once "cool" existence ended around the same time the show ended.  It has been outright difficult to listen to good music and know who is the next up-and-coming artist without 120 Minutes.

Now for the good news - 120 Minutes is coming back!  If you have MTV2 (and most of you now do because of the digital cable upgrade) you can watch 120 Minutes again.  And yes, Matt Pinfield is hosting it again.  I know, I know, I feel like I am going back in time.  The show will start airing new episodes again on this weekend.  If you are on the east coast, it is on at 1 am (Saturday night into Sunday morning) on July 31, 2011.  Oh, happy days!

Even if you can't stay up for it, be like me and tape it.  Honestly, I am not as young and spunky as I once was when it originally aired.  If you have a DVR or you are still kicking it 90's style with your VCR, make sure to tape it.  Thank you, MTV, for finally giving your fans what they want!

A Dedication to Amy Winehouse

Sadly, the world lost a talented singer this past weekend.  Amy Winehouse was found dead on July 23, 2011.  Instead of talking trash about Amy and reflecting on her past mistakes, let's take a moment to remember her.  She was a talented singer and a grammy winner.  So instead of thinking about all of Amy Winehouse's issues, let's remember why we loved her:

The Ending of Insidious

SPOILER ALERT: Do not read this post if you have not yet watched Insidious.

Anyone who is familiar with this blog must realize I am a little obsessed with Insidious.  After watching it about 5 or 6 times recently (I bought the DVD last weekend), I have come up with a theory about the ending of the movie.

Of course, at the end, we are to believe that the ugly old lady has taken possession of Josh's body.  I daresay I also believe the demon has taken over Dalton's body, as well.  The next time you watch the movie, take notice that the psychic does not go anywhere near Dalton.  She is more focused on Josh.  Dalton is wisked away by his grandmother and mother.  He only states the he is hungry and tired.  We do not see enough of Dalton to determine if he is OK.

What I believe happened is the demon took over Dalton's body and the old lady took over Josh's body.  In the scene when people are returning to their bodies, you never see who really gets back into each body.  I firmly believe Dalton is not in his body either.

I am assuming there will be at least one sequel.  I am curious to see if the second movie only focuses on Josh being possessed.  It is possible it will focus on Josh so there will be a third movie about Dalton.  I am very curious to see how this plays out.  Sorry if I ruined to movie for anyone!

Jersey Shore Withdrawal

Whether I want to admit it or not, I have been experiencing Jersey Shore Withdrawal.  It starts out simple: you find yourself checking MTV looking for Jersey Shore reruns.  Next, you start scoping out On Demand programs looking for it.  After that, you start to watch small portions of the show on YouTube.  Finally, you start pricing the DVDs and checking MTV's site to learn when the show is finally coming back on.

I am happy to announce, the wait is over on August 4th.  Finally, the Jersey Shore is coming back to MTV on August 4th at 10 PM.  I am ever so grateful.  I was tired of fist pumping on my own or considering putting my own poof in my hair.  The Jersey Shore is coming back!

In case you are curious about the trailer, you can watch it below on YouTube.  As if it is not enough seeing them in Italy, they are also currently filming the 5th season in Seaside Heights again.  I can't imagine how they can still pull that off and still work at the T-Shirt shop, but whatever.  As long as they are airing it, I will watch it.  Long live the Jersey Shore!

A Little Something Special for the Remote Control

To all of you Couch Potatoes out there, you know one of the most important aspects to TV viewing is not actually getting up and crossing the room to change the channels.  My friends, we have taken the remote control for granted for too long.  I believe it is time to celebrate the remote control.

Check out: A Tribute to the Remote Control

Don't forget your old buddy - the remote control - has been there for you through thick and thin.  It helps you skip over commercials, mute annoying television moments, and change channels so you never have to watch a terrible show.  It is time to recognize the benefits our remote controls give us each day.  One day, your remote may stop working and imagine the devastation.   Just try hiding your remote for a day or two.  See how that works out for you.  We all need to take the time to appreciate the remote control.

Insidious is No Longer Making Me Lose Sleep

You may recall in an earlier blog post how I described that the movie Insidious was making me lose sleep.  Hey, I even wrote an article about it on Hubpages

I have to admit, I bought the DVD today and discovered it is not that scary to me anymore!  There is something about seeing it on the big screen that makes it horrifying.  Not to mention, now I already know when the scary parts are going to pop up in the movie.  It may sound nuts, but I was hoping to be traumatized again by it.  But nope.  Now I know what to expect and when to expect it.

If you are buying Insidious on DVD, I recommend watching it in the dark and a large TV if you have not seen it before.  You want to get that "big screen" effect to really be scared.  So turn off the lights and turn up the volume and happy nightmares to you!

Adventures in Baking

Today just goes to show that sometimes it is not worth getting out of bed (or off the couch, for that matter).  My entire day has been a bit of a disaster.  Work has been crappy, but for some reason, I agreed to bake a cake for tomorrow's work party.  Good idea?  Wrong.

I suppose this picture does not quite show how lopsided the cake really appears to be.  Also, the frosting is too runny.  Once the premade store frosting was not working out for me, I attempted to make homemade frosting.  That was also a disaster and went down the garbage disposal.  This just goes to show, sometimes, it is better to stay in bed.  Sigh.

So now, my lopsided cake with runny frosting will go to work tomorrow.  Perhaps people will consider this a good analogy for how my entire week at work has been.  Well, I must look on the bright side... at least I can eat cake.

Fitz and the Tantrums - Money Grabber

I know I should stop rambling on and on about Fitz and the Tantrums, but what a great band!  VH1 is constantly promoting them and I can't get enough.  Yes!  VH1 is playing music again!  I know that is incredible.  It is because there is actually some great music out there.  If you have not heard Money Grabber by Fitz and the Tantrums, you are seriously missing out.  Check them out!

Money Grabber just plays in my head all day.  Apparently, Kings of Leon like it too considering they are dancing to it in one Youtube video.  So give Fitz and the Tantrums a try.  You won't be disappointed!

Guilty Pleasures: VH1 Reality Shows

Much to my delight, I have just learned Celebrity Rehab is returning to VH1 tonight.  Now, I know, it is not the happiest show on the planet.  I am sure I could watch something else, but it is one of my guilty pleasures; I cannot stop watching this show.  It is just fascinating.  I like watching the first episode of each season to see which celebrities are going into rehab this time.  Then I follow the show as if I know the people in it.  Obviously, I do not hang out with celebrities.  I have no reason to care if they get better, except that they are people and I hope nothing but the best for them.  No doubt, I will be watching each week and crying along with them.

If crying along with celebrities in rehab is not your thing, the season finale of Mob Wives is also on tonight.  I will admit, I do like this show.  I would not watch it at first, but it does grow on you.  I have a feeling a major catfight is going to break out tonight, so if catfights are your guilty pleasure, you might want to catch it.  Apparently, a big secret is coming out tonight.

Weird Al "Perform this Way" Update

For those of you interested in the full length Weird Al Yankovic video, "Perform this Way," I felt it was only fair to add it to this blog. This is the official full length video from Weird Al.  Now, who is else is wondering how long it will be before Lady Gaga decides the honey bee look in this video is something she is actually going to try?  I give her about a month.

Weird Al Yankovic "Perform This Way"

Just when you least expect it, Weird Al Yankovic comes back into our lives!  Of course, you know Weird Al has to make a music video parody of Lady Gaga's videos.  Lady Gaga is one of the hottest singers right now and Weird Al always knows what is in style.  So, it is time to behold the masterpiece that is, "Perform this Way!"

So yes, I know there are plenty of you out there that will not admit you've been waiting for Weird Al and a new album.  Yes, you will pretend you don't care about this video.  You know you are going to watch it.  You know you are looking forward to seeing the full length release of the video next week.  You are waiting to buy the CD, aren't you?  Yes, just admit!  You are a Weird Al fan!

It is OK!  There is no one here that will judge you!  You can love Weird Al and Lady Gaga and enjoy the new video clip, "Perform this Way."  You can also buy the new CD, "Alpocalypse" and it is totally cool!  So enjoy being dorky.  Don't forget - the official "Perform the Way" video premieres on June 20th and the new CD, "Alpocalypse" is released on June 21st.  I know I am not going to miss either of those events, so be a dork right along with me!

Lady Gaga on The Hills

Finally, at long last, I have seen the infamous Lady Gaga episode on the The Hills.  TV Guide Channel frequently airs The Hills.  I'd heard a rumor that Lady Gaga appeared on the show in 2008.  Finally, I saw the episode.

The episode is called, "Something Has to Change."  For those of you familiar with the show, this is the episode when Lauren and Audrina have a good cry and agree to stay friends.  For the Lady Gaga fans, this is the episode when Whitney and Lauren help Lady Gaga with a wardrobe malfunction.  Lady Gaga is in a skin-tight catsuit and the zipper busts.  Lauren then fixes it.

I had actually seen this episode in the past and did not even remember Lady Gaga's appearance.  She is only on the show for roughly 30 seconds, if that.  When MTV aired a special about Lady Gaga, they showed far more footage from the show than the actual show aired.

So if you are dying to see Lady Gaga on The Hills, don't be too sad if you miss it.  She has a very small part and mostly there is a lot of crying and drama with the girls on the show.  If you must see it, you can catch it on TV Guide Channel since they are constantly showing The Hills.  Lately, they've been having marathons on Sunday.  Make sure to catch the "Something Has to Change" episode in season 4, the 5th episode

Kings of Leon Dance Off

Do you love the Kings of Leon?  What about the Whigs?  Even better, do you like to rock out to Money Grabber by Fitz and the Tantrums?  Maybe you like a good dance off.  Well, you are really in luck today.  For some reason, the Kings of Leon and the Whigs decided to have a dance off to the song Money Grabber.  I know.  I just doesn't get any better than that.

Auditions for My Own Andy Richter

Anyone who reads my blog knows I am in love with Conan O'Brien.  He is my favorite talk show host and I watch his TBS show all the time.  What you may not know is I am looking for my own Andy Richter-like sidekick.

Yes, you heard me.  I am on a search for my own Andy Richter.  Andy always laughs at Conan's jokes.  He is always by Conan's side no matter what.  I need that type of sidekick.  Hopefully, my own Andy Richter is out there right now.  Job duties include:
Laughing at me at appropriate times.

Reading my writing and telling me it is great.
Standing to my left and nodding a lot.
Helping me look good if my jokes suck.

If this sounds like something that would interest you, please leave a comment below.  I really don't have money to pay you, but I would like to think I am pretty entertaining and maybe that is enough.  If that is not enough, I can take you out to eat once a week.  Perhaps we can go to Burger King or something like that since I am poor.  I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

America's Got Talent (or does it?)

America's Got Talent is back back back!  It is perhaps more ridiculous than ever, but yes, it is back.  So far, I've seen people fall off the stage, sing horribly, scare Howie, offend Piers, and just plain weird everyone out.  Let's face it, America's Got Talent is the new Gong Show.  They do not have a gong, but they can sure "X out" a bad performer.

I will admit, I do miss David Hasselhoff a bit.  I mean, can you really keep the show going without the Hoff?  I guess you can, actually, since it is still airing without him, but it is not the same.  I like Howie, but he is no David Hasselhoff.  I will admit, as much as I enjoyed Jerry Springer hosting the show in the past, I do really like Nick Cannon now.

For now, I need to run.  After all, America's Got Talent is on right now!  Even if I can't have the Gong Show come back on TV, I can still watch terrible performers on America's Got Talent.

Get Off the Couch and Celebrate the '90s!

I believe the time has come.  The 1980s parties have come and gone.  It is time to bring the '90s back.  Let's start having some 1990s parties.  We can break out the hypercolor t-shirts, flatten our bangs like Brenda and Kelly on 90210, and dance to Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer!  What could be more fun than that?

Even if you are into something a little less "pop" - why not break out the flannel shirts and let's listen to Nirvana and Pearl Jam?  Even better, we do not even have to get off the couch to watch Beavis & Butt-head reruns.  So what are you waiting for?  Check out some more ideas: It's Time for a 1990s Comeback!

Infomercial Info Everywhere!

Recently I've been stumbling upon some totally ridiculous infomercials and infomercial gimmicks.  I can't believe some of the silly strategies used by these companies.  Have you ever noticed items are purposely overpriced when you can buy one and get one free?  As it turns out, the price of the first item is usually about the price both items should actually be if you bought them at a store.  Something tells me customers are not really getting anything for free.  Throw in the shipping and handling, and it is a total rip off.

I felt the need to share this and wrote a hub about it: What Infomercials Really Mean

After writing this hub, I watched TruTV's World's Smartest Inventions 4 just the other night.  I could not believe they devoted an entire show to the same topic.  Luckily, someone was even kind enough to upload the whole episode to Youtube.  Check it out!
